GoDaddy is riddled with hidden charges and continuous updates to their policies as to add even more hidden charges, acting in...展开
ways that surpass your usual scams and fraudulent practices and venturing far into illegal territory.
Example 1: You cannot cancel an auto-renewal for a domain or any other useless feature that they sell you at a ridiculous price unless you FIRST cancel auto-renewal from a little-known additional settings area from your Domains dashboard. After you have done that, you will have to cancel again from the Billing area.
If you do not do so exactly in the manner and order specified above, all your settings will be overwritten and they will auto-renew in accordance with their default settings, not your own.
NOTE: None of this is specified ANYWHERE on their website. Their customer support officers will not tell you either if you approach them. You have to rely on forum members or personal experiences in order to figure this one out.
NOTE 2: This is just one of many unannounced policy updated exclusively enacted to add hidden charges to their clientele. No updates, notifications, guidance or anything will ever be sent to you to notify you of such extra hidden charges.
Example 2: They never ever ever ever do chargeback. Their customer support team will not assist you nor even bother to get back at you.
GoDaddy is a platform that exists only to scam consumers - individuals and businesses alike. There are many which resort to shady practices, but GoDaddy ventures well into illegal practices and remains entirely oblivious to user concerns.
They are scammers. Try any other host in existence. If you've had the misfortune of already purchasing domains from GoDaddy, simply transfer. If you transfer to a new host after a 45-day period following renewal or the acquisition of a new domain, you will only pay the transfer fee to the new host and receive an additional year entirely free of charge. Do that, regardless of the host you transfer to (literally any other is less fraudulent than GoDaddy).
Bear in mind that if you transfer before that 45-day period however, the extra year will not go through and GoDaddy will be refunded any fees they will have paid for domain registration or renewal. Most other hosts will also refund their customers when this happens, GoDaddy DOES NOT, effectively stealing money from their clientele, charging for inexistent services and getting paid twice in the process for a service which they do not deliver (paid by the customer and then refunded any fees by ICANN for a service which they do not provide).
