The backend admin panel lacks some features common at other hosts (like the ability to manage domain redirects or access a file manager). Reliability has been strong. Support is good most of the time, though out of the 20 times I have contacted them, on 2 or 3 occasions I didn't hear from them until I sent another email to remind them of the issue. When they do respond, support is helpful and friendly.

Their servers are slower compared to the new experience I am having with Inmotion. Their pricing is deceiptful, becareful as most of the figures you see in their advertising only relate to a discount they provide on the first month, which is not advertised clearly but indicated by placing 50% off by it. However, the worst part of my experience was cancelling my services with them. After I had enough of them and realized I was better off elsewhere, I cancelled my vps of which I bought extra volume for on the vps account. Technically by cancelling your vps its virtually impossible to see the extra volume to cancel it, HOSTWINDS CONTINUED TO CHARGE me for the extra volume space, despite the fact the service was cancelled and despite the fact I couldn't access it to cancel it. How can you charge someone for extra volume when they service requiring extra volume is cancelled. More over this is a pay before play service, meaning that they service is not in use until it's paid for, yet they refused to let me avoid paying for it because they are crooks. I raised a dispute with paypal and then hostwinds decided to suspend my services until I undo my paypal dispute with them which i wouldnt. I messaged them to cancel all my services and all my accounts, I went through with their colleague via their live chat messages and did so. Yet they still continue to charge, refusing to give me access to the services in order to cancel it. If you chose to use them do so at your own risk. And if you are happy working with them at the start give it a few months before you review. Ive worked with bad hosting services, but their faults are understandable, what hostwinds did is nothing but a bitter form of extortion to subdue a leaving client.

t very clear that we did not want this iteration on our live site (We even specified EXACT IP ADRESSES). Without question or clarification, they overwrote our live site. We are working with a VIP client, and have been working tirelessly to process revisions and finish this site. Our reputation is on the line over a hasty decision made by a support rep. If you can't provide proper site recovery/migration, don't offer it at all, PERIOD. We do not have time or money to continue being held accountable for mistakes made by flaky support reps, and the remnants of the Liquid Web buyout.
